Hi, i'm in college at the mo, was looking for a 9-5, mon-fri job in Dublin City Centre for the summer - are they all taken? Unfortunately it's too late to try the County Council, Revenue etc as all their positions have been filled. I don't even care if it's not office/clerical work as long as it doesn't involve evenings/weekends? I know I probably sound really demanding it's just all my friends & boyf have jobs with regular hours and I don't want to be working when they're all off! :) any suggestions would be extremely welcome thanks!!

Sorry I meant to write in my original post (in fact i'm pretty sure i did write it so my computer must have deleted it or smething....weird) that i'd rather not work at a temping agency, I had a friend doing it last year and she said the work was so patchy (work for one week then off for two etc) that she could barely pay her rent, and i'd kinda prefer to avoid that situation! thanks for the reply though!! :)

What would you be qualified to do?

Ummm....not alot :( just finished an Arts degree in Maths & Economics and have a bank job lined up for september so just need something for the next three months, have sent off alot of CV's to other banks and stuff but haven't heard much back! I have alot of experience in restaurants/cafe's/shops etc but none in an office environment! I sent off CV to recruitment agencies and one or two were interested in taking me on but because of unreliability of the work I'd still prefer to avoid if possible! I'm just wondering if there's any avenues i haven't explored yet?

temp agencies can get you longer placements if they come up, not unusual for temp agencies to place people for 2 months or so.

If you tell them that's all you're interested in they might come up with something as a lot of other people might be looking for something which wouldnt last that long due to holidays and other things

If you have a second language, games companies are hiring like crazy now. Very easy office work with 10-6 hours?

does Irish count? :p no i did Spanish to LC, although I was pretty good at it (got an A2) and can still cobble together a passable sentence I wouldn't call it fluency or anything? do you have to be really good at it?

emm depends, they are actually more interested in you understanding it that speaking it? if that makes sense? i'm crap at languages anyway so i don't know if that makes a difference?

Also, irishjobs.ie is one of the best sites i've encountered, might be worth looking at

Yep I tried irishjobs.ie, recruitireland.com and monster.ie pretty much all they listed were from recruitment agencies looking for temp summer staff! I'm not actually living in Dublin yet though so hopefully when I move down I'll have a better chance of finding somewhere! :) thanks for the suggestion though!
