What if my new AEG is above 328fps?

I am new to this game (HRTA twice). I just bought a JG HK G36c from RSOV. I can't seem to find the exact fps that this gun will be. I bought it so i can use in HRTA.

    My question...........

If it shows up on the chrono as above 328 is there anything i can do to reduce it?

Sorry if this has been answered before but the amount of threads now is unreal.

    Thanks in advance

You can change the spring in it to a less powerful one. I believe Tony sells 1j springs, and I'm not sure but if you brought the AEG into him they might fit it for you as part of the upgrade service they offer. MIA also stock springs and do an upgrade service afaik.

So really, unless you fancy tinkering around inside the gearbox of your AEG yourself what you'd need to do is bring it to one of the retailers, buy a legal spring off them and get them to fix your AEG so that it was no longer an illegal firearm.

You'd want to do that pretty sharply once you found out it was over the limit, as possession of an illegal firearm is a serious offence.

You will need to change the spring in the mechbox.
Here is a tutorial to get your mechbox out.
The JG G36C uses a V3 Mechbox, Here is a video on how to upgrade parts inside it.

Now put it all back together, Linkeh!

If you are going to change the spring, you might as well change the bushings, -which a nylon now- metal, or even ball bearing bushings.

Also, you should never buy an AEG from abroad and import it without knowing the fps, if it is over the 1 Joule limit, customs will confiscate it. Should you get one in that is over accidentally or if it is above the advertised limit due to a fault, then you should have it fixed immediately.

just to point out, any JG mechbox ive owned has had metal bushings from factory

If you should find yourself at HRTA with a 'hot' AEG, find the one named 'vtec'. Stand near him. Make big, wet 'puppy-dog' eyes, with a forlorn look and quivering lips. Whimper about how much you wanted to get shot by a guy with a brown SCAR while playing with your G36.

If you're lucky, he'll notice and sort you you out for a nominal fee, or for your first-born, which is well worth it for a day's skirmish out there. I haven't told the gf about the deal with our first-born yet but I'm hoping she'll agree it was a good investment...

Edit: In all seriousness, I downgraded a hot AEG of mine after finding it was over while still new to all of this; it's not the most traumatic thing you could do, but set aside a good few hours for it the first time and make sure you have all the equipment you need to hand, as well as checking all of Mr. Cohen's links. Most of the retailers will probably be able to do it for a reasonable price. The G36 is easy enough though.

My G36C had nylon, maybe it's an older version than yours.
Still worth changing for better ones while you have the mechbox open though.

Yeah I think 6mm, on my version anyway.
I got these ones, I needed to rub the hole in the mechbox case with sandpaper before they would 'snap' in, I put it down the the looser tolerances JG use.

I also got these shims, bit of a pain in the arse trying to shim a mechbox TBH, but if you buy the TM gears (assuming they are actually TM not just TM compatible) from Tony they come with gear grease and shims (So I had lots left over) and a nice little instruction manual giving you pics of how to shim.

do you run yours on 9.6v
    i'm putting a ms90 in with 9.6v to get a better rof

No I'm keeping mine standard, almost.
I did put in a 1J spring, it was getting 280~fps at HRTA a few months back, and I just want to edge a bit closer to the 1J mark.

That's actually pretty depressing that the forum has got to the stage where someone might actually take it seriously or even complain about it.

    On topic...

The clips showing the disassemebly/reassembly of AEG's/Mechboxes are pretty good.

However, the first time you try it, it is harder than they make it look.
After that, it's easier than they make it look. :D

It's worth getting some experience with the insides of the AEG's anyway...they all break eventually. Worst case scenario is you will need to put the pieces in a bag and ask someone to reassemble it for you.

Trading infants is a very serious matter ....

    Nah :)

As above Mechbox.com have a great v3 gearbox video, after watching it I breezed through my first v3 gearbox, great stuff alright.

The older version did have nylon bushings in then yeah, any of the JG stuff now has metal bushings though and the body quality is nicer too.,

tigger with an MS90 you'll expect to be about 320-325fps which is great, also the JG does use a 6mm bushing and if you get the bearing ones and some shims you'll have a great setup. I did them in mine and ran it on a 10.8v for months, its still working today and thats on standard gears too.,

my only advise when dissasemling & reassembling your gun using Mechbox as the reference is to watch both videos & then double check it as he does skip a few proccess's in the reassembly. He tried to catch me out with it on the AK & mechbox 3 gear box video ;)

What got my goat above all is how the mechbox magically reassembles itself when he's done - pay close attention when disassembling, and expect to do the whole thing at least twice before it works again (though you're unlikely to be as inept as me). And beware of 'left-over part' syndrome!
