Sound quality off new Sony Walkman

Got a Sony mp3 on Monday to replace a stolen nano http://www.sonystyle.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10551&storeId=10151&langId=-1&productId=8198552921665368512

It's slightly larger than the nano. And, arguably, not as intuitive to use.

But my god, the sound quality beats the absolute snot out of the iPod!! I was using high quality buds with the nano but it lacked punch and was mediocre when it came to songs with allot of base.

Have to say, would recommend the Sony without hesitation (especially now they've dripped the appalling software and made it drag & drop/windows media player controllable)

SQ is much better with the wired headphones than the bluetooth ones. You can use MediaMonkey with it aswell. I've the older 818. Sounds great. I love the fact that these have real buttons as I hate touch interfaces.

250 quid :/ Which was foolish really. Cos I'm sure the older 818 that BostonB has sounds just as good and the only difference really are the bluetooth headphones (which are a nice, if gimmicky, addition) and the improved video capability.

Actually, what software do you use with your 818 BostonB?

You use MediaMonkey for music - what do you use for video?

I think the new Sony 82x series looks better, but they are meant to sound the same. I'd have bought the 82x if it had been available. I got the 818 for about €130 when I was last in the UK. I bought the Sony clear case. The clear case for the 828 looks much better though. Not sure if Bluetooth is that useful as most Bluetooth headphones aren't that great SQ wise.

MediaMonkey for music and album art. For video I just drag and drop using Windows Explorer. I use Videora iPod Converter to convert it to iPod Classic Format which works on the Sony and my iPod.

Theres been lots of posts about the Sony DAPs over on HeadFi.

I'm at my wits end with this. Sony, you absolute retards, why WHY WHY make it so difficult to get video onto this thing?

I've downloaded videora and tried every single video format possible and it still won't play them.

ok you'd do it once just to see it done, but you wouldn't frequently watch video on it, it's way too small, I'm thinking about getting a psp at the moment and can see similar problems with converting video to watch, the screen is a lot bigger on it though
