I wonder where we would rank if it was based on scumbags per capita or antisocial behaviour?

Yeah the wars in this country are being fought on the street corners on Saturday nights and the hospital corridors every day.

Just because we are not at war doesnt mean we are at peace.

There are bigger things than the really big things, and usually these are the small things.

If ya know what I mean.

fairly high i would imagine Murder rate might not be too high but the antisocial scumbags run the streets in ireland which seems to be typical in ireland and england far more than anywhere else

I think the Police here can't be bothered.they've pretty much given up the ghost on petty crime/anti social stuff.Same with the roads here..all the ads on tv about dangerous driving which make no difference....Policing...visible Policing would make a huge dent on road deaths here yet we have virtually no Policing on the roads here.Weird country this.

seriously, so many people have to relax on AH with the comments about the country being turned inside out with gang wars, killings etc. We have it good.
    Truth.

Well, duhh. Costa Rica hasn't got an army! The superfriendly, good ol' US of A invaded them, I mean, the US army defends them against themselves.

So, a country with no army, but occupied by the USA is more peaceful than the army that occupies them. Makes sense.

based on homicides, military spending and terrorism.

    Two points:

    1. I'm glad 6th is most peacful in this country. :D

    2. It seems to be a generational trait to say how the country is becoming.

Balls, you really think it's worse here than the UK or anywhere else in the world? Dubs like to think we have mean streets just like all the other cool world capitols but our crims are childish by comparison.

I'm from Dublin and i still couldn't agree with you more. I've lived in London and i'd love some of these folks to get stuck on their own in a Camden/Acton/Northfields/East London/Croydon suburb at 3am Saturday night.

The scummies in Dublin are nothing in comparison.

    What a strange list!

How would the amount a country spends on its military have any effect on what goes on in its streets? I can understand using that statistic if they were going for a "most peaceful nation in the world" as in least-warlike, but using homicide rates seems to negate that. It just looks like two random stats that were thrown together.

It's like creating a list using "the amount of teenage pregnancies" and "the amount of stolen cars" and then claiming that Country X has the worst education system in the world. Really, how do military spending and homicide rates relate to each other?

And how exactly do you measure "potential for terrorist attacks"?

I'm sure anyone who gets battered or robbed tonight on their way home will be thanking their lucky stars they don't live in number 7.

    Phewww!

I feel sorry for people who think Ireland doesn't have an antisocial behaviour problem. It means that you don't know how sweet life can be when you live in a civilized place or that you are a scumbag who thinks that that kind of behaviour is acceptable.

Yeah, we're not the worst, but things could be a million times better if the people just got along.

I think we can improve our rating over a number of years with some controlled genocide. Getting rid of loads of scumbags in this manner might harm our short term poll rating, but in years to come we will see the benefit, and in a happy coincidence of words, save on benefits too.

    Snap.

I wonder where Ireland would come on the list if they were to remove military spending from the list? I'm not suggesting we would be at the bottom of the list with just "potential for terrorist attacks" and the murder rate taken into consideration but there is no way we would come in at number 6. You could spend ****e all on your military and still be war torn sh*t hole, just like you could spend a fortune and be one of the most peaceful around.
