Buying an apartment in Ireland

I just visited Ireland and really enjoyed the stay in Limerick, Adare and Dublin. The people, the weather (not too hot, not too cold and rain doesn't bother me too much. :D)

I have a couple of questions regarding the possibility to buy an apartment in Ireland. Both for personal usage but also for renting second hand to friends and kollegues.

    1. First of all. Is it okay for a swede to buy an apartment in Ireland? And is it permitted to rent it out to other non-Irish citizens?

    2. What are the usual expenses besides the rent and the actual payment for the apartment?

    3. Give and take, what kind of money are we talking about for the following:

    - Not in Dublin, Limerick or Cork. But in the southern half of Ireland. With the most common services within descent distance.

    - Reachable with bus/train from Dublin or Dublin Airport.

    - 30-50 m2

    - Apartmenthouse and the actual apartment built or renovated within the latest 10 years.

    Yep no problems there.

    Stamp duty, maintenance, PRTB registration

Check out http://www.daft.ie for price ranges, Ireland's bloated housing market is in crash mode right now, asking is probably about 10% or more north of selling currently, especially apartments.

Have a look at http://daftwatch.atspace.com/ and make your own mind up.

Have a weather station?, why not join the Ireland Weather Network - http://irelandweather.eu/
