Softener in washing maching

    Hey
The last few weeks when I've gone to wash clothes I've noticed the section of the drawer for fabric softener is already full of water, like its not draining. So I can only add a tiny bit of softener or else it will overflow.

Anyone know how to clear the blockage? I'm guessing it might be limescale somewhere but not sure...

The drawers can generally be slid out, might help you find the blockage

Just take out the whole drawer, there is usually a little tab to press to release it. Then give it good rinse through. I use concentrated conditioner and it gets blocked fairly often.

    Ha! Snap ^^^^

It's usually dried up fabric softener 'gunk' blocking the actual outlet from the drawer. I don't know what the outlet is like in yours, but in ours there's a little cylindrical plastic cap that fits over the outlet that you can take off and clean the thing out.

EDIT: as others have said, in order to do so it might be easier to remove the whole drawer first, but might not be necessary.

Thanks guys, I had tried to slide the drawer out but it wouldn't budge, maybe there's a tab I haven't noticed alright. Will have a look this evening...

On ours (an AEG machine) there's no tab .. you just pull the drawer out as far as it will go and give it a quick but firm tug and it comes out. The instruction book should tell how to remove it if required, but as I said it might not be necessary.
