Reclining seats, seat pockets and window blinds were done away with by Ryanair a couple of years ago as "non-essential extras". They save thousands on the cost of each new plane by not having them fitted.

The aircradt had windows blinds. Its really enoying having no reclining seat I cant get any kip without it. The rest I could live without.

While I'm not a fan of Ryanair I actually quite like the idea because I really hate it when the person in front of me shoves their seat back and restricts what little room I already have. Always seems to happen me 10 minutes after take-off on a longhaul flight too.

Indeed, on planes with the current seating density, recline is the last thing needed, especially on shorthaul.

It's not so much that Ryanair saved money by choosing these seats, but will save money by not having to maintain the recline features over time.

They'll be doing away with the seats next to save on maintenance costs on those too:D

I noticed that when Ryanair bought out Buzz Airlines. We were sitting in a plane that had Buzz emergency exit instructions, seats were black and didn't recline. Last year sometime.

I remember hearing that Ryanair carried out a survey on what passengers thought of people in front of them reclining their seat and got a massive response similar to yours hence the removal of the reclining seat. Don't know if it's true but it's something you see ryanair pulling off - don't ask do you like to relcine your seat but do like the guy in front of reclining their seat while you're trying to enjoy our expensive drink and sambos?

I get the impression that if they could get away with it Ryanair would prefer something like this

Glad they got rid of the reclining option myself. Really no need for it on any of the short flights that Ryanair do.

I doubt that. When did Ryanair ever do anything to make passengers happy? Everything they do is about the bottom line (pun intended). Non-reclining seats are cheaper; that's the beginning and the end of the explanation.

Reclining seats should be taken out of all flights. Nothing worse than having an inconsiderate prick in front of you who launches the seat back without asking if it's ok and nearly takes your knee caps off or makes shit of your laptop when you are trying to do some work.

A mate of mine almost started a diplomatic incident on a transatlantic flight a couple of years ago. An Indian woman in front of him slammed her seat back into his knees a couple of minutes after take-off, and without thinking he reached over the top of the seat and slapped her on top of the head! Half the cabin crew, including the purser, were there within minutes and asking if the lady wanted to move, if my friend wanted to move and an assortment of other permutations. In the end he stayed put and so did she with her seat reclined for the full flight, except when my friend asked her politely if she wouldn't mind moving forward when the meal was served. He was lucky she didn't want to press charges for assault or something.

When you think about it the real butt of the problem here lies not with reclining seats but the amount of space between the seats. Ive no doubt in my mind Ryanair ( and others ) did research on the average height of European males and then made their decisions based on the data. Its just if you are above average that the reclining seat becomes an issue. Most females can sit on Ryanair and have a couple of inches even if the seat was reclined, if youre over 6ft though its a different sceal:mad:
