uPnP, is it safe?

    I remember a few years back reading a lot of bad things about uPnP, I even seen a warning from the FBI that people should disable it on their PC's because of the way MS implemented it.

    I have a router that supports uPnP but I have it disabled and I manually forward all my ports. What's the story with it, is it safe to use and what are the advantages/disadvantages if I was to enable it on my router and use it instead of manually forwarding ports?

    Save yourself the trouble of reading how bad it is, just manually forward the ports!

    If you must read, google "dangers of uPnP" for some examples, such as this one:
