interesting ... 20 bucks a month for free calls to O2 and landlines. And calls to other networks is 25c/min. Nothing new for data though.

    I don't get this.
It's more expensive to get the 12 month contract than the "1 month notice" sim only version.
    WTF?
    Surely that's not right:
    12 month contract (175mins): 35 euro/mth.
Sim only version with only 1 month notice (175mins): 30 euro/mth.
    What am i missing?

    A free phone perhaps.

    :)
No i nearly always buy sims on their own to use with my own phone.
If that IS the only difference that would suit me great.

Do I still have to go into a contract if I buy an iPhone?

As far as I know the only "proper" way to get an iPhone with O2 is to go on an iPhone tarrif. There's nothing stopping you going on EBay though & using a tarrif like this. Mind you you'd want to be sure of the data tarrifs & what data you were planning to download.

I have an E65 that I brought over from England at the moment that I am happy with that so I think I'm going to go with the unlimited plan for 25 with no contract 'cus my girl is on O2 as well. I think I'll try out that spend alert thing as well that will be really interesting as O2 will need to update this live if it is to be good working information.

I'm liking the no contract concept, I really hope this catches on across the market!

Keep customers with service and value, not handsets.

the unlimited o2 / o2 and landlines option looks quite good - first time (that I'm aware) that o2 have "free" voicemail too. I wonder how quickly the other providors will react to this.

Nah, they had free voicemail on all their plans back in the good oul' days. I think that's 3 generations of price plans ago, now, but could be longer. I have free voicemail on my plan (which o2 ring every 2 or 3 months to try and change me from!)
