I've booked Jurys Kensington hotel in Kensington. My friend has been over lots of times and said it's nice with a great breakfast. Very close to tube stop, museums and Harrods and plenty of shops and restaurants around. We're going from Sat to Tue the 2nd weekend in June and it's costing just under 400 euros for the 3 nights for the 2 of us which I think is a very good deal. I found I had to search under all the different options (city break, leisure weekend, advance purchase etc) on the website to get that good a deal though, just don't pick the one THEY say is the best. I got a better price with the hotel than with any of the discounted sites.

Try and narrow it down to an area you want to stay in and then look at hotel reviews on tripadvisor. Always check the hotel's own site, they usually have better deals.

Two years ago we stayed in the 'City Hotel' in Osborn Street. It's in the east end, close to the subway train and it's really great value. There's loads of great indian resturants close by.Check it out on one of those hotel websites. We'd stay there again.

Travel Lodge in Covent Garden. Right in the middle of London.

The Ritz seems to be a good one. A bit expensive, though.

Jurys in Kensington is one of my favs. Right in the museum district, close to Harrods and Harvey Nichols, taxis to/from the West End won't break the bank and most important of all for London in the summer...air conditioning!

Failing that, the hotel that's just beside the Eye is pretty good, but pricey and in an out of the way area in between Westminister and Lambeth.

Ive gotten great deals on both through the web.

Also, check out tripadvisor.com, IMHO one of the best review sites for hotels on the web.
