    Hi all,
I was just wondering what people do the week of a race, at the moment i'm only doing a max of a 10 k race,

Last week i did an 800m in the bhaa, But only left out a speed work session in place of the race.

Would you usually take many extra rest days the week of a race or jsut reduce the mileage.?

The day before I wouldn't do anyone runnnig but would do some stretching. In the week before I think its the milage but more the pace of the runs etc that I would reduce, but each to their own.

I remember running a hard 5 mile session on a saturday then planned to watch the leinster cross country the day after, only to be persuaded to run the intermediate men half an hour before the race. Was one of my best races, but that wont happen every time.

    Often wondered about this myself..........

I usually reduce the intensity and number of sessions I do on a race week. I usually leave two full days off before a race..last run for a Saturday race would be a Wednesday and Thursday for a Sunday race. Some might consider this too long a gap but I like to feel very fresh on race day.

Until i'm told that this is not best practice, I'm going to stick to it.....

I give it a day before a race. I did a 12 mile two days before the Trinity race and I stil felt it in my legs. I have let my training slip a little . I know a few lads that allways go out the day before a race for 15 mins to shake the last run out of the legs???
