    Frustrated footballer/runner-Gilmore Groin thread
A mod didn't like the way the thread was going and locked it? There was one bullshít post which was deleted, the rest is good info and personal experience. There are a few lads going through similar issues and for me personally, it is interesting and beneficial to hear what course of action others are taking and how they are getting on.

The updates should be allowed to continue

If you try pm'ing the mod of the forum they might be willing to re-open it. Locking a thread is sometimes used when a thread is going to descend into a row that will ruin the topic, locking the thread can prevent that, but if you pm the mod they may be willing to re-open it (possibly after a day or two to let things calm down).

Have to agree here and add that the lock might be temporary. Pm the mod should be the first step.

The Fitness Forum is not a medical forum. A lot of the posts on the thread violated the charter. There's no reason why the lock should be only temporary or the thread opened.

    From the charter:
    "No medical instruction

For legal reasons it would be nice if people could refrain from posting medical directions. This is an advice forum, and while there will likely be borderline cases …

You are advised that nothing you read here is to be taken as gospel - what is right for one person is not always right for everyone else - so double check any advice with a doctor if unsure. In addition dosages of any supplementation need to be tailored to your needs - again, double check.
    "

    and

"No Questions about Treatment of Injuries

As a whole boards.ie does not allow medical discussion and Fitness will be no different. Do not post threads about injuries or when you think you might be injured looking for advice. If you are injured go to a qualified medical professional for help, not the internet. Injuries can be incredibly difficult to diagnose, even when the person you are seeking help from is in the same room as you.

The only time we will allow the discussion of any injuries and how to overcome them is when the OP CLEARLY states in their first post that they have been to a professional, recieved advice and treatment and are looking for help with a rehab/prehab excercise. Thats about it.

Repeatedly posting about injuries you have looking for advice withou going to a medical or sports injury professional will get you banned. Posting advice about treating an injury when you should not will also get you banned."

Standard advice on the FF for someone with an injury is go see a professional and typically the thread will then be locked. While the OP had seen a physio, they hadn't exactly exhausted the proper medical route.

Boards.ie can be held responsible for somebody acting on advice posted here which is why there is a sitewide ban on medical advice afaik.

Read the charter before you make a post maybe???

It's already been pointed out to you so i won't bother going through it again.

When someones name is mentioned and you suddenly have a good few new and low post count people coming along to say how great that person is it raises eyebrows a little bit.

His name is out there, people know to go to him, i don't want oddles of injury discussions going on in Fitness.

    End.

Also, it was Smashey that locked the thread but we discussed it first and were both happy to have done so.

As Dragan said, I locked the thread after discussing it with him. It will not be unlocked.
