Royal Navy lose a Tug tractor and nearly lose a Merlin Helicopter.

Other websites are reporting it as a towing tug mishap.
'Apparently' the wrong gear was selected and the brakeman on the Merlin was a little slow off the mark.
The driver jumped clear before it went over the edge and the towing pin snapped off at the tug end.
If nothing else it shows the strength of that undercarriage!

SHIP WAS IN ISTANBUL FOR QUEEN ELIZABETH'S VISIT TO TURKEY.

    SHE LEFT ISTANBUL ON 17.5.2008.

I presume the tow bar is designed to snap is such situations. I wonder if the radar casing is designed to take abuse like that. :)

I think the "she" refers to the ship, not the Queen.
