Hiya Donal, I'm not sure how much you want to spend, but Pocket Wizards are undoubtedly the choice of those in the know,

absolutely stone cold reliability and phenomenal range,

I've got a couple and they have NEVER let me down,

pricey at about €150 each unit, and you can only use your flash units on manual (no ETTL),

    another upcoming option are Radiopoppers

not yet available in ireland, but they do promise the reliability of pocket wizards along with ETTL,

    hope this is some help,

    Philip

I think at the end of the day whatever you buy Pocketwizards are the best at what they do full stop.

even one like this http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.11190 may work
I know they aren't suposed to be as good as pocketwizzards, but they only cost 1/10th

I use the gadgetinfinity / Cactus remotes. Cheap as chips, hotshoe based, no need for a pc sync socket.

the ones from deal extreme misfire quite often

I use the gadget infinity ones and get about an 80% hit rate. Alright for goofing around but if you're using them professionally then they are not the way to go.

I wouldn't consider the pocket wizards seeing as the new radio poppers will support E-TTL.
Do Nikon not have an own brand solution?

Only the Creative Lighting system, which is limited in terms of slave unit positioning. The RadioPoppers are probably the best solution for Wireless Slave triggering from a nikon now.

The only question is whether you use the built in flash, a SU-800 or a SB-800 for your master unit....

I have the Cactus and I don't use it so much. If you want to try it, let me know.

I'm just back from the states and got a new SB800 to accompany my 2 older SB80's (which arent iTTL on my D3) and got another pocket wizard too. Apparantly all new pocket wizards are Tranceivers. They've done away with the seperate Transmitter & Receiver devices which makes a good bit of sense.

My money is on the PW. I've used them the last 3 or 4 years without a single problem.

As a matter of interest where is the cheapest place to buy a set of pocket wizards? Was looking into this over the last few days but haven't really been able to find much difference in price.

to move slightly off topic - anyone have experience of the the Olympus wireless flashes?
The FL 50R or the FL 36R

If you're buying off ebay (or the internet) - make sure you check which frequency the ones you're buying operate on - the US version is different from the EU one. AFAIK DigitalRev sell US frequency ones only, URGalaxy sell both.
