I think you could count the amount of service stations selling LPG in greater Dublin on one hand.

I know only one place selling an LPG. It is in Kilmore Road in Dublin 5. The price I saw yesterday was 1.05 Euro/l:( so it seems to be pointless to run on gas (it's a pity as in ALL other EU countries it is a very cheap fuel - usually more than 2 times cheaper comparing to petrol!!!)
I also heard that there is another place close to Brittas in co. Dublin (Mountainview Motors) but I couldn't find the place.
If there is anyone who can advise me how to get there, I will appreciate it.
It is worth going to Northern Ireland (Newry) where they sell gas for 0.49 Pounds. It's a great value especially if someone has a car with a big tank.

    Regards!

am seriously thinking about the converstion as it would be a dual fuel car then , newry only 30 mins up the road from me , so that would make it worth while , do the weeks shopping then fill up there ,

Now lads you talkabout gas? for fuel? If yes in mine country it was wicked popular, and still is i think. It as 2xtimes cheaper.

But heres the bad points now:

    1. Engine wear outs alot faster with those gasses, and alot of poeple dont like to buy a car with gas on it. ( atleast in lithuania)
    2. You can have extra problems with car, and extra repair bills, specially in here, wheres just a few companys doing it.
    3. drop in performance is unreal m8, you will feel like driving a 1.2 punto, not a merc

    ad 1:
Engine can live shorter only in case you run on not rich LPG mixture. Then the temperature of compustion is higher and it can cause engine damage.
This can happen in case you garage makes the regulation badly.
I personally do this myself, I have an appropriate software and can see whether the LPG/air mixture is in correct ratio.

    ad 2:
I had several cars with LPG conversions and can assure you there will not be any problems when your conversion has been fitted appropriatelly.
Such a car can easily exceed 300.000 km. The only difference when using such a car is you have to replace an LPG filter each 15.000 km (cost of 10 Euros).

    ad 3:
When the conversion is mounted as it should be, there is no performance decrease. In case of generation "IV" of LPG conversions it is even possible to have an improved performance of your car. Only in first generation of LPG conversions there was a performance decrease observable (it was more then 10-15 years ago!).
If the performance of your car is worse on LPG, this only means that your garage / mechanic should sligtly change some parameters in the LPG computer or has not good skills.
In my cars I was always doing this myself as there are no big secrets, some manual skills and a laptop.

I can even offer my help if someone would be interested or had any problems of nature what is wrong with his conversion or how to do regulations etc.

    Regards!

no they just want your money, I wrote to the minister about a veg oil conversion to see about the tax as its almost carbon neutral but he wasnt interested. Pity as we won a worldwide microsoft technology competition with the conversion kit.

hey has anyone ran a diesel on gas?

I am going to soon mayby December have a 99 Volvo V40 1900cc

I wanted to look at all alternitives such as E85 and LPG

My own car presently is a Suziki swift 98 1000cc 3 cylinder

I opted to experment with no modification or add on kits to try out varios amonts of e85 mixxed with e5 fuel to how good that solution is

    Info on E85 here
    http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055377204

However on a bigger car the abilty to run gas if the fuel is cheap eneogh sould be interesting

I presume the LPG that is in house hold tanks for house heating in the houses in the country side will also work for cars
If so I could if I move into the sticks have my own fuel supply on tap

I really want to have max fuel flex abilties in case of fuel interuptions or steep price hikes and also to cut costs

    Derry
