Cena is my fave, what are they having him wrestle goons like jbl for when he should clearly be going for the title. He is the most popular wrestler by a mile,so why isnt he fighting HHH or Orton for the title. Are they trying to decrease his popularity or what?

Or are they waiting for one of them to win this fued and then cena to beat the winner?

The man wears a headband on his arm ffs,he is a legend:)

    who is then?

all you have to do is listen to the reception when he comes out.

HHH, Jeff Hardy, Shawn Michaels and Y2J all get bigger reactions from the crowd than John Cena.

Apart from when the crowd is yelling at Cena that he sucks, which is about every second week.

Kids love him, but a lot of people don't.

For one, JBL isn't a goon. He's an unbelievably good heel and the heat he gets shows it. Secondly, although he is probably the biggest draw, it is arguable whether he is the most popular ATM.

As for what they are doing with him, I think that they know that they could get a good 4-5 month reign at the very least with HHH before they pass it on. I'd say the Summerslam main event will be Cena vs. HHH with Cena taking the belt the PPV after.

Yeah, hes a legend for wearing a head band on his arm:rolleyes:. Kane wore a towel on his head, does that make him a legend?

Cena is alright, but he is no way as popular as Jeff Hardy, HHH, HBK etc.

I know Taker is on the Smackdown brand, but if you put Cena up against him atm, do you honestly think the crowd would be backing Taker or Cena??? I can gaurantee Taker would be the crowd favourite in that match!

not at any WWE event i have been live at. This last time jericho got any sort of decent reaction was years ago

WWE pump simulated crowd noise into the entrance music of various wrestlers, batista is obvious if you have ever attended a tv taping for smackdown or PPV. When HHH does the water spit the boys in the back raise the volume of the song at least 30% on Raw

people chanted "rocky sucks", "rocky must die" and booed him out of the building at shows i attended including summerslam 2002, didn't mean they actually hated him though. WWE fans showed their true colours at royal rumble and then forgot they were supposed to hate cena

probably because it is not true!

go attend the next live raw so in manchester in november if you think i am lying, is it so hard to believe that WWE would try and alter crowd reaction, WCW did, WWE do it on their dvds and remove stuff they don't like

btw people here didn't believe me about certain things in the past ;)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,206 ✭✭✭✭Rjd2

Cenas reaction has being improving before he got injured but since he came back the amount of cheers he got has decreased while the level of boo’s are reaching the volume they were it at it before his Edge feud in 2006(the feud where the crowd began to melt towards him) I think most of those booing still have misconceptions of him as some sort of Superman character which is very unfair as he has being very low key since he returned. He won the rumble admit tingly but he lost at No Way Out, he not HHH took the pin at Mania and was eliminated early at Backlash. However when Hunter and Taker overcome the odds those people who like to boo Cena all seem to find something else to do……

You obviously didn't go to Raw in Belfast in April then. The crowd were chanting Y2J for about 10 minutes and he was lapping it up big time! The same thing when I went to London a few nights later - the televised Raw - the crowd were chanting away again. HBK got the biggest crowd reaction fo the night there also.

As for over in America, the crowd were not that loud when Cena came out at Mania from what I remember. In fact, I'd say Jerricho got as good a reaction if not better.

As for the music - I have never experienced that at all. I have been at a few live shows now and I never noticed it. I will pay special attention to it in Manchester in November!

Yeah, Jericho did get a massive reaction in Belfast in April.

was anyone at the last raw shows in the point, finlay (the hell) and kennedy (the heel) got just as good reactions as cena!-which i found amazing coz thats when cena was champ and at the height of popularity!

There is one major thing from stopping me from agreeing with your post. That reason? The fact that i'm not ten years old anymore. :)

 finlay was on smackdown, cena was on raw, in fact kennedy was still on smackdown too (he wasn't traded for another week) at the time of the last point show so how exactly were we to compare if they were not even on the same show

last show in the point (2nd night) people were chanting cena's name for about 10 minutes after the match with orton ended, he stayed in the ring milking it, haven't seen a reaction live like that since about 2002

I met Cena the Monday after WM24 and I thought he was a great guy. Sure, he may not be a great worker (although getting better) but I refuse to boo a man who sweats blood for the company.

I think all the Cena-hating is pretty lame tbh.

Because people don't agree with your opinion of him? If you ask me, that's more lame. If people hate Cena for a legit reason, then at least respect that opinion. As i said, my reason for hating him is because he's not Hulk Hogan and i'm not ten years old anymore.

Of course, if one is just jumping on the "i hate Cena" bandwagon to be cool... that's another issue ;)

Sorry if I took you up wrong but I thought you were taking the mick with the headband comment.

The thing is, when a wrestler reaches a certain level of popularity or credibility he does not always need to be involved in the title hunt to maintain that level. In a way, it is a compliment to Cena that WWE don't feel that they need to keep him in the main event spot all the time. They believe he can stand on his own two feet without the belt. I don't know if you ever read Mick Foleys books but a similar thing happened to him at one stage and he describes how McMahon explained his reasoning behind it better than I could. Some wrestlers seem insecure without the belt, HHH, Hoganfor example. Meanwhile others just don't need to have it all the time Undertaker, HBK (recently), Flair....maybe Cena too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,468 ✭✭✭✭SlickRic

u need not worry dc69, im sure he'll have the belt back soon enough. as alluded to by VR he's the Hulk for today, 10yr olds lap him up, theyre parents have the money, ere'go champion we have.

thats not Cena hating cos i happen to respect the guy hugely, i think anyone who gets the reaction he usually does has something about him that should be respected (i haven't seen WWE in few weeks so cant comment on very recent crowd reactions as others have)...and his wrestling isn't bad either

but the belt will be on him because he's the best Vince believes he has at the moment at making money long term.

this is just time for Hunter to get his 12th and maybe 13th reign under his belt in the meantime ;)

i really think they should make cena a heel again, i thaught he was a strong heel and he would be great back there again!

yeah but he makes them too much money as a face....it'll be a long time in my opinion until he's a heel again. All the little kids won't buy his stuff if he's the "bad guy"!

They should as his character needs a drastic change as he is beginning to bore a lot of people, the problem however is that he makes a hell of lot money as s face and I don’t know if a heel cena could generate the profits he does at the moment.

Cena is filming a movie so he has less time for RAW house shows / tv appearances / PPV. I think he will be back in the title picture again feuding with a heel HHH. I can't see Cena going heel since he makes too much money in merchandise.

I so would love to see John Cena V The Rock

I don't understand why they are pushing him with Mickie James??
