Star rating script

Hi guys, I'm looking for a script (preferably freeware) that allows visiors to rate a certain entry on a project I'm working on. For example, the entry will have 5 stars beside it. Shaded in will be the average rating. To rate the entry, all you have to do is hover over and click the amount of stars you'd rate the entry. Perhaps, beside the stars would be the amount of ratings entered. It probably would have to have some kind of IP control that allows one rating per entry per IP.

Is there a script or something similar out there that would fit that description? Is it just a few simple lines of code?

Can we get more information on the project you're working on? What language is the project in? Does it have a database already?

There are 2 sides to the star rating.

Client side (display, hovering, selecting stars). Good few scripts out there already. You might find an easy-to-use one if you use an exisitng JS library (like jQuery, or MooTools). Sample 1 (broken demo, but the code's good), Sample 2 .. and many more.

Server side (store the ratings for later retrieval): It really depends on what languages are available to you / what you already use. The code isn't rocket science either way, so you should be able to figure out (and adapt from the samples).

Is it easy? Yes, if you've done this sort of stuff before. If not, then it's easy-ish. The complex part (client side JS/AJAX) is done for you.

Only one database which is being used for Wordpress. language is mostly HTML as I'm a beginner to the world of web design/dev.

Thanks for helpful links... and I have scoured sites like hotscripts etc but I was kind of looking for tried and tested scripts.
