Buying laptop in the U.S

Was just wondering as I'm going to the US in a couple of weeks and was thinking of buying a laptop over there.

Would I come accross any problems power wise, with connectivity or customs for that matter?

Or would I be just better off buying one over here if its too much hassle. Thought I might take advantage of the weak dollar :)

    Cheers.

My sister bought a Dell XPS in Boise for 800 USD and took it back here. The same laptop here is about 1K and did not have half the amount of additions she had. As far as I know the warrenty is international and will work here. You can also take out an additional warrenty that will cover you for three years. Make sure you read the small print when buying first.

Im gonna write a sticky-candidate about this issue real soon :)

Customs: Negatory. Carry 2 if it pleaseth thee. In the box, if thats what tickles you. No spare batteries in Carry-on though is the one and only thing: the exposed contacts have a small risk of exploding - they dont want it being used as an explosive device/aid. Battery plugged into your laptop: OK.

X-Ray Scan: 100% Harmless to your datas. Only ever put one through in Sleep mode though: never fully powered on. Still I very highly 99.99% doubt it will do any harm at full on.

Power: International loveliness. The transformer in laptops accept voltages between 100-240V. To get to UK all you need is a simple $4 UK plug adapter. No need for bulky expensive external voltage converters: it is inclusive.

Warranty: based on the manufacturer the warranty is just as good here as there. I have found HP is a cúnt about shipping spare parts to me though. Other than that: grand. Dell are definitely good for it.
