Cant install downloaded programs?

I got a virus last night but none of the programs I used detected it, avg, spybot or ad aware. So I uninstalled avg and got nod32, that didnt find anything either. So I uninstalled that as well and did a system restore which worked and the virus isnt there anymore. But now when I go to download avg or spybot, it downloads…

I got a virus last night but none of the programs I used detected it, avg, spybot or ad aware. So I uninstalled avg and got nod32, that didnt find anything either. So I uninstalled that as well and did a system restore which worked and the virus isnt there anymore. But now when I go to download avg or spybot, it downloads but when I click run nothing happens. Both of them are still in the programs list but they wont uninstall. I tried deleting them from the registry but that didnt remove them from the programs list either. I was told I might have to reformat but I figured I'd try and get some help before I do that, anyone have any ideas? Cheers.
