I'm getting a ' -No slots available this date - ' when I try to book??

OK should be fixed now. There was a block in place to stop people booking it instead of the Nationals.

Please note that we will be introducing some equipment control for this competition. Trigger weights and pistol sizes will be tested thanks to the loan of a sizing box and trigger weights from Wilkinstown Target Shooting Club. :)

FYI, trigger weight must be 1000gr or over, dimensions must not exceed 300 x 150 x 50mm. Sight radius must not exceed 220mm and barrel length 153mm.

    From the RRPC website:

In a closely fought contest with Paul Flanagan of Rathdrum, the 25m Pistol match was won today by Alan Kelly of Hilltop. Third place went to John O'Brien of Rathdrum in his first competitive outing giving the experienced shooters a bit of a shock in the process.

Thanks to everyone who turned up, it was an enjoyable match and one we hope to repeat in the coming months.

I think Alan has photos of the medal winners. It was a real ding-dong battle between the two of them. Paul had a miss on his second rapid string of five (the 83 could have been a 93) and that put an end to it really.

Anything not pass? I trust the "plinkers" were well within limits.

I'll chase up Alan, Paul and the other guys for photos. I'm looking for them for the clubhouse wall but I'll ask if they won't mind posting here aswell.

Alan's trigger didn't pass on the first go, but with a small adjustment it made it through. Everything else was fine. The measuring box wasn't needed because everything else was well within size.

It's not that tough really. Most non-ISSF pistols (and that's a very loose description) have fairly heavy triggers and are a good deal smaller than the measuring box.

The only drawback would be barrel length, as some pistols have 7" barrels and that's not allowed.

How did the rest fair on the trigger? Everyone else "exactly" on the limit or was there much deviation?

Most were between a little over and comfortably over. I know mine is about 1100gr and there was a Beretta which must have been about 2Kg as it wouldn't go off with the max of 1500gr on the tester.

With the two-stage match triggers, you can split the weight between the two stages so that your release wieght is about 500-600gr even though the overall weight is over 1000gr.

would like to try air pistol and air rifle
i,d have to borrow the kit
what kinda scores and distance do you guys shoot

Well, you've got the targets for it! Range is 10m, and guys like Tim Scannel and Joe Conroy are putting in scores around 530 in competition, but we've seen bigred in here put in 550-odd in training. If you're in RRPC, talk to Mike Madigan about it, he shot air rifle in DURC for years. Or call out to WTSC, take a look about and talk to Geoff.

We have to get one club air pistol at least, but have to wait for funds to build up first. Hopefully the new year will see us add a few new training tools and bits and bobs for lads and ladies to try out.

Hate to burst your bubble xesse, but I checked the records and the highest score was 536 by J.O'D in the 2006 Nationals (shot in May 2007 - lack of a venue delayed it until we had the range up and going).

The full results from that competition are here.

Sorry I misled you, but it's hard to remember every score :D

That's not to take from your achievement either. The only difference between what you are doing and what Joe did is that he was knocking in 97, 95 in the 150 second stage. Your rapid is obviously better. The other really impressive part is the fact that all your shots are in the black.

    Keep it up

    536
oh well there s always tommrow
    shot a 521 and a 525 today

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 314 ✭✭Kryten

Shot a 519 today. Also used it as an opportunity to zero the gun. On my first 2 150 second series, I had most of my group at 12 o clock in the low 8 and high 9. This skewed the result a bit. Also my 10 second series were not great with 169/200. My 20 second series, 171/200 and my 150 second series 179/200.

    Just need more practice!!!!!!:D:D
