    Hey guys

I really really want a new hobbie

and im thinking the electric guitar is the way to go

    Only.... i really havent a clue :-(

Ok, some questions (if you dont mind)

I want a guitar that sounds like this : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QjA5faZF1A8

No idea what kind this is, how much etc??

Also, i have a sound reciever here in my room, with big ass speakers, subwoofers etc, cost quite a bit, is it possible to hook a guitar out to this???? as the sound of the equipment is unreal

Any help would be greatly appreciated as i really dont have a clue and im starting from complete scratch

    Thanks guys

IT's a good beginners guitar alright. That and a microcube is the general consensus on this forum for a beginners set up. It won't sound like that video though - he's using some fairly good gear.

As for running it through your sound system, it wouldn't sound good - dedicated guitar amps are there for a purpose ;)

The Pacifica 112 is a very popular beginners guitar, because its just one of those things that are well put together and does the job great. Very good quality for the money.

In relation to the clip you posted, yeah, a Pacifica would be fine for that, its got a humbucker (pickup) in the bridge positon, which is pretty much what you want for the heavier rock style tones.

Any modelling amp will get you a tone similar to that - so you're looking at the Roland cubes (including the very popular Microcube), Line6 Spiders, Vox Valvtronix etc. Theres a good bit of choice there, and they're all fairly good, so its just a case of whatever suits your budget and has features you like.

Trust me, if you ever hear an electric guitar played straight through a stereo you will never want to play the guitar again.

+1, i've done it, and my good was it was awful, guitar amp all the way! What's your budget? The pacifica is a great beginners guitar alright and a micro cube will be as versatile an amp you can get for the money.

Just out of interest, how much does one of those micro cube amps cost?? and are they worth buying if you have a **** enough amp that kinda/sorta does the trick
