2nd hand ps3 registration problems

hi guys,

got a 2nd hand 60gb ps3 recently and although i'm loving it, there is a problem. i can't edit the user info, as someone already registered it the system asks me for the password they used. needless to say i don't have that password and have no way to get it. the system was already formatted prior to being given to me so i don't think that will fix it.

any ideas?

Using a PS3 that has been locked out of internet access or movie playback? Go to System, System Settings and choose Restore Default Settings. This will reset all settings, including setting the password back to '0000' (four zeroes).

House broken into last week and of course they nicked my beloved PS3 :mad:
So couple of questions..

1. Any games I've downloaded from playstation store i.e. Super stardustHD and warhawk, are they stored on the console and will I have to pay for them again?
2. I registered my credit card details so it would automatically top up if it needed to in the playstation store. Is this info safe?
3. Will whoever ends up with my console be able to log in using my username and password (it was setup to auto sign in and remember username and password).
4. I intend to replace the PS3 hopefully this week. How do I get back my username and details?

You should have created a new topic but....

1. You can download most PSN titles onto 5 different devices
2. You need to remove your CC details immediately or change your password immediatley. You will need a mates PS3 or MAYBE, just maybe you can do it online from your PC. Until you do this, there is nothing to stop the person with your PS3 from topping up your account, ie taking money from your CC and putting it into your PSN account. then buying EVERY game there.

4. When you get your new PS3, just sign in withthe same username and password as your orginal account.

Maybe remove your CC details for a while. After you change your password, they won't be able to sign in after signing out.

thanks for the replies guys. i'm about 20 hours into GTA4, will i lose all my save files? can i export it to psp or file server?

Unlikely. To be safe, you can export them to a USB stick first.

thats stored on the ps3 so its gone
