Worried about earache

So woke up(or was woken up should I say) this morning after a night out last night by a scything, thudding earache in my left ear. Quickly realised I had limited hearing in that ear as a result. This isn't the important part, what is important is that I started listening to some tunes on the computer, 'You Never Give Me Your Money' by the Beatles if anyone would like to know :p, and found everything very jaunty and dischordant. Everything sounded out of tune and it was a real struggle simply to endure one of my favourite songs.Im actually quite worried about this, Anyone care to shed some light on my plight?

A vist to your doctor is the first thing to do asap .Could be any of a variety of ear problems, not nessacaraly anything serious .Might be a viral infection which can mess your hearing up a bit .

Personally, I won't go near any form of loud music without a pair of these.

Definitely get yourself to a doctor if it lasts.

This is not a medical forum and no medical advice should be given.

As others have said, go to a doctor if it's worrying you.

On another note, I've always wondered if Doctor J is real doctor...

Is Doctor J really a doctor, I believe I know the answer but I am not a liberty to discuss this matter!! ;)

Even if he was at one time, he is no longer.

    He's now Duke J! :D

Could be a 'psycho-acoustic' thing. Much of what we think we hear is actually coming from memory - if we listen to our favourite song through a set of poor-quality earphones next to a noisy motorway, our brains fill in the missing pieces of the sound we don't hear. Pass the earphones to someone who's never heard the song, and they won't be able to make out the lyrics.

If it's been a good while since you last heard the Beatles song in question, your brain, due to your current lack of good hearing in your ears, may be incorrectly filling in the blanks and trying to 'guess' the harmonies.

Just throwing it out there, I could be wrong. Best talk to your GP if it continues.

I hope you don't suffer from tinnitus.
I do and it's my WORST (and constant) nightmare :'(

I felt low-level tinnitus coming on and immediately got out of the garage-band situation I was in.

Now I record and occasionally jam, but I don't subject myself to the "5 loud guys in one room multiple days per week" situation anymore.

If you're a big music fan, it's definitely worth investing in a pair of high quality earplugs, like these:

They will cut the levels but maintain the clarity.

don't worry. eric clapton is as deaf as a post and look at him! rich as creosote. (or gravy, depending on your tastes..) best thing to do is continue this winning roll by buying a marshall stack, turn it up full, lean your guitar agin' it and dig that feedback. in no time at all you will be selling out all over europe! just like eric!

or perhaps ask someone who knows about ears....
