its the sunday game, not star treck!

    watching the sunday game today, the noise the information bar that brings up the score and when a player was booked/substituted is soooo annoying! its like somthing out of star treck!

    Is it the same one as was there last year? Drove me mad too, just distracting (from the game, anything that distracts from what Marty Morrissey is saying is welcome). Haven't had a chance to follow much GAA this year so I haven't heard it if it's a new one.

    Still, meh, there's bigger problems.

    It's different to last years.Last year it was like suuuuuuppp.
    This year it is is much louder and it is kind of trekkie.

    RTE have to show off their fancy graphic package, it looks professional and i think most people wouldnt find it distracting, also i dont really remember pop ups on screen during episodes of star trek, so I dont reallt see the original point?

    its like when the doors open or somthing like that


    sky sports usedto have a noise like that, but got rid of it ages ago

    Sorry..........i didnt realise there was an accompanying noise along with the graphics, i was watching it in a bustling bar.

    Agree with the OP that noise when they flash up the score is both unnecessary and very annoying :mad:.
    I didn't even notice that they also had some audio last year so it must have been far less obtrusive.

    I wonder if RTE got a few complaints about it would they consider changing it?

    I haven't watched any matches on television this year but that noise really annoyed me last year. If anything the way the studio is setup for the highlights programme makes it look like something out of Star Trek.

    What drives me batty is the pop up information bar which appears at regular intervals telling us about upcoming coverage and highlights programmes. It's not confined to GAA coverage and IMO is way overused. Latest scores, no problem but drop the Sky News imitation please.

    On the SG set, it's gank. Last Sunday night with two of the panel wearing stripes on the poxy grey couches I nearly got a headache watching it. Keeping one step ahead of Setanta and whatever TV3 come up with (God help us!) is one thing but this is off the scale.

    It also looks a bit silly the way they have "Joanne and Kevin" sitting right behind Pat and the other analysts. Are they really that stuck for space in the studio?

    It didn't bother me at all. The only thing that bugged me was later at 9:30pm when they kept showing pat spillane and the lads from a birds eye view as if to say look they're all sitting in perfect symetry!
