Anyone else pick up this little beaut for the DS? I just can't stop playing it! The design, the music, the battles, the infinitely adjustable difficulty, it's probably one of the best RPG's I've ever played! Please tell me someone else has played it! Mental note: Too many exclamation marks...

Yep, I'm completely hooked too.... I'm half way through the second week and loving every minute. Its action packed, but very deep - a great combination.

Trading in my old DS for a DS lite and picking this up as soon as I'm done with Phantom Hourglass.

The story is very compelling, I'm half way through week 2 as well and it reminds me very much of the storyline of
Gantz, in that they're all dead and forced to play a game in which they discover the rules as they go along.
One of my fave animés for story so it is! :p

I loved Phoenix Wright but hated Hotel Dusk - will I like this?

Nothing like either of those.... search for it on youtube or IGN and watch some videos.

Played it for a few days and it seemed alright. Bit over stylized I thought.
Then jenesis DS was released and it's been Shining Force 2 all the way since :D

Currently i'm stuck on the last battle but i'll just experiment with my pins and I shall beat it yet!

Beat it there a while ago. Great ending! Very inexpected in some ways though. This is one of my favourite games of all time. Now i'm just going through all the bonus missions and the bonus day. Still loving every second of it :D.

OK you guys sold me will be picking up a copy of this soon off play-asia. Hard enough game to get in town, incidentally, and most places are selling it at 44.99 (which is more than Im willing to pay for a DS game when you can get them for 30 online): another example of a game that will surely be lost under waves (and I mean waves) of Brain Training clones.

Sad but true. I cringe at the amount of DS consoles bought to play those rubbish games.

    I started playing through this.

The main character is the most unappealing prick I've ever seen in a video game.

He lightens up, don't worry. :)

I was considering getting this and after reading this thread, I'll make sure to get it.

Not expecting a lot from Square though to make appealing main characters.

Apparently a lot of the subtle nuances of Neku at the start of the game are lost in translation, hence him being rounded off to an arsehole character.

After reading this thread + checking reviews, i'm so getting this now! :pac:

This game is absolutely brilliant. I haven't been able to stop playing it for the last week. Its coming close to knocking Phantom Hourglass off my top spot.

Ok I got it but the battle system completely confuses me. I really don't understand the partner system and auto just makes me feel like I'm not getting the most out of it. I'll keep on trying though and hopefully get used it.

To start off, Fringe.... turn your partner to "Fast Auto" (click phone icon in top corner - the option is at the bottom of the screen) and don't worry about them until you've mastered Neku. They'll fight for themselves, leaving you to focus on Neku.

Secondly, you do increased damage if you have the 'puck' (the glowing green thing constantly moving between the top and bottom screens).

Thirdly you can change the difficulty on the phone menu to make it really easy until you get used to it (but you'll get less pin drops and money). Once you've got the hang of it, change difficulty to a lower value (lower=harder) for better payoffs.

    Persist.. its worth it.
