Just saw this in my local dunnes last nite. I'd imagine its in others too. I think its a fairly good bargain. Its an outgoing model but everyone knows Panasonic make one of the best plasmas.

I'd love it! But as my room is 14' x 14' I just manage to squeeze in a 37" Tosh Regza!

I have the 42 inch version of this and its amazing, so the 50 inch for 1299 is a fantastic deal!!

Good deal, I bought the 42" version a year ago for roughly the same price, excellent TV, even with standard def (a lot better than most LCD's).

I'd go as far as to say its far superior than almost every LCD I've seen!!! Hook a PS3 up to one and its delightful!!

When compared with what? The black levels on this panel aren't even near rivalled by anything else in the same price range and certainly aren't even approached by LCD panels either at or above this price bracket.
I have the 42" of this model...I looked at the 50" when buying but it was too big and the price was a fair bit higher...€1299 strikes me as being a cracking bargain.

    +1

I've got the 37" version and it's a cracking set. The finish alone on the panasonics is nice ,you know you've bought something decent.

Exactly, compared to what? Do you have one? If anyone if thinking of getting one of these then listen to the people who already have Panny plasma's. I have a 480p Panny professional series from about 4 years ago and even that is far superior to most of the LCD's I've seen. When it comes to flat screens plasma is king, and Panny is the king of plasma's!

Well actually Pioneer are the kings of HD TV's, however few of us have €4000 to spend on a TV, so Panasonic is the next best and this looks like a great deal.

Pity it isn't a 1080p, which is what I'm personally looking for.

+1 for 42inch version - excellent for SD even (Sky)
    Also excellent for sport
Not full HD but can process 1080p

closer to 3 grand for a 1080p in that size

LCD is cheaper at that size and with spec's

I have to honestly say that even if I had the cash to spend on a Pioneer I'd still buy the Panasonic!

To the poster dissing the TV, shame on you is all I can say.
IMO its in the top 5, 3rd overall best TV released last year on the market behind the Kuro range from Pioneer and PZ,PY70 1080p range from Panasonic.

It has far far better black levels than 99% of LCD TVs on the market and not some bull**** dynamic contrast ratio but true 10,000:1 ratio.

If you really want a bargain IMO, the fullHD 50" set is €1999 at Alliance Electric.

Indeed. It may be worth explaining that 2000:1 static contrast ratio on an LCD TV would be considered superb. The dynamic ratios usually listed are pretty meaningless.

I have a Sony 40V3000 with an 1800:1 ratio, but 16000:1 dynamic. It's a good TV and I had my reasons for getting LCD, but I do sometimes regret not getting a Plasma, just because of the black levels.

    Ix.

I have the 42" version of this TV at home. It's fantastic. Colour and picture are great and there is enough trouble in getting any HD material, let alone 1080p at the moment. Sky HD is still only doing around 10 channels, including their movie channels and having used this TV with a blu-ray, I can say that the picture is very, very good. You can't get better than Panasonic or Pioneer.
