Windows Update not working

    Windows update is being a pain.

    It tells me I have 3 updates needed but when I install them, it freezes at 0% and makes NO progress.

    Vista/AMD AThlon dual core 5600+/1 GIG ram.

    Similar story with a guy I know. He ended up loosing everything on his laptop.
    Microsoft support tried to blame Toshiba at first but in the end admitted a flaw in the update process.

    I would suggest going back to an earlier restore point and turning off automatic updates for a couple of months until they sort it out.
    Take backups on separate media, regularly, very regularly.
