C4 show some commercial trash these days!

FF is showing The Entity which is even trashier and I might tape that one.

    Mike.

Ah now here! Don't be calling Commando trash. it's arthouse cinema at its most raw.

Indeed, not to mention the sparklingly witty script and the riveting performances by Arnie and Aussie Freddie Mercury.

    John...I'll be waiting John.

Fantastic film. You can't help but spend the week after viewing it quoting the script. Must get the DVD asap.

Ah good old Bennett, goes from being a mohawked nutjob in Mad Max 2 to getting a pipe chucked through him by Arnie.:D

Saw it in HMV (Swords) for €6 last week.
Just a shame we don't have the uncut version.

Ordered the R1 directors cut. I wanted the Blu Ray but it's only contains the cut version.

'Commando' is one of the few films I watch every time I see it's on. Bennett is a definite cult hero:)
Gutted I missed it last night and I have it on DVD...work that one out:confused:

Yeah I just watched the US Blu-Ray of it last Tuesday, classic Arnie and all the errors in it just make it lovable, even forgot that theres an early Bill Paxton role in there! Classic had to have it on Blu-Ray :)

Wow, Id love to hear that commentary :pac:

On TV3 now. Possibly the greatest 'piece of crap' movie ever made.

It's currently at beginning of the chase sequence that ends up with him breaking his promise to Sully :(

Is it just me or did the actor who plays Bennett base his character a lot on Chopper Reid?? He's australian and all so I'm guessing so.

He seems to have based his character and look on Freddy Mercury? Sexuality in particular.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 35,954 ✭✭✭✭Larianne

just checked imdb.com Says he based it on Freddie Mercury on steroids. I still think he looks like Chopper Reid.

I switched over to TV3 just as it was coming on. I was full sure it was the greatest film of all time, but it was at least a hundred times better than I remembered it. SOO ****ing good.

If there was ever a movie to open a six pack to.

And I thought I was the only one who loved this film! One of my all time favs.

    "Let off some steam, Bennett".

I saw it.:D However I forgot about how unbelievably corny the beginning was, with Arnie having the laugh with his daughter. It was like watching one of those cheesy holiday adverts designed for middle America.:pac:

Oh and Bennett, he looks like a mixture of Chopper and someone out of the village people.:p

All the same, testosterone raising stuff.:D

Class film, one for the museum so future generations can benefit from the wisdom.

"You're a funny man, Sully, I like you. That's why I'm going to kill you last. "

"Remember, Sully, when I promised to kill you last?"
    "That's right, Matrix. You did."
    "I lied."

Oh, and for any Arnie fans

Remember what happened to Sully when he made an inappropriate remark about Matrix's daughter?

Thank God this is the edited for DVD version where you don't actually see my head getting sliced off.
You have no idea how disappointed I was with the commando Blu-Ray. Its not teh unrated version. No special features. Plus the picture transfer is lousy :(

Anyone read the Commando 2 script? Apparently it was the influence for Die Hard

For anyone interested, I bought a 4-pack of Arnie films in HMV yesterday. Commando, Predator, Conan the Barbarian and The Terminator for a tenner. :D
