The hinge broke on my US bought DS so I bought a casing from Dealextreme to repair it. To keep the look as original as possible I just used the parts needed and re-used the rest of the original parts.

After putting it all back together I tried to start it. The green LED lit up and the lower screen flashed for a split second then a few seconds later the LED went out and it was off again. Reading some of the comments on DX one said this was due to the screen ribbon cable not being in fully. So I strip it again, reseat the cables and try start it again while holding it together (before screwing it all back together) and it starts ok. I screw it all back together and it's back to square one, dead.

Can anyone suggest anything that doesn't involve a bin?
