Public Consultation on Transport Access for All - the Transport Sectoral Plan under the Disability Act - 2005

    9 May 2008

Transport Access for All was published in 2006 as the Transport Sectoral Plan for improving the accessibility of public transport in Ireland. It sets out a series of policy objectives and targets for accessible transport across all modes of transport - measures to make trains, buses, taxi and hackney services, as well as air and marine transport, accessible to people with disabilities.

The Department has now begun a Review of Transport Access for All. The Review is being undertaken in line with a commitment in the present Plan.

Irish and English language versions of the Plan, together with an Executive Summary of the Plan in MS Word, PDF and HTML formats are available at the following link:

Sectoral Plan for Accessible Transport under the Disability Act 2005

Alternative formats (Braille, audio etc.) of these documents are also available on request from the Public Transport Access Division of the Department at the contact details below. The Plan is also available from the Government Publications Sale Office, Sun Alliance House, Molesworth Street, Dublin 2 - Price €3.00 (English Prn. 1621) (Irish Prn. 3431).

You are now invited to make a submission on matters that you consider should be addressed in a review of the present Plan.

A guidance note has been prepared to assist with making a submission. In addition, people with disabilities are being invited to respond to a brief survey about their current experience of public transport. The guidance note and the survey form are available for download below in MS Word format. A HTML version of the guidance note and a link to a HTML version of the survey form are below.

Please send your comments by post in an envelope marked 'Sectoral Plan Review' to:

    Public Transport Access Division
    Department of Transport
    44 Kildare St
    Dublin 2

    Tel: 01 - 6041644

Submissions can also be made by fax to: 01 - 6041688 or by e-mail to: PTAccessibility@transport.ie

The Closing Date for receipt of comments is Friday 27 June 2008.

Every submission received will be taken fully into consideration in finalising the revised Plan.
