Right well heres the basics. I'm an IT head and got a phonecall from a girl this morning who said that she was looking for a "Penetration Tester". Being the smart alec wee cnut that I am said "Well I'm free this weekend if that suits".

Then she goes mental down the phone, telling me that she no one should ever hire me and that she would be striking my information from their database to which I responded, I didn't send you my information in the first place?. Call ended.

Now I use about 3 recruitment companies around the country. In those 3 agencies I know the recruiters that I deal with. That is I have met them one a one to one basis and even have a lunch with two of them. For some reason I get about 3-4 calls a month from various recruitment companies around the country and I have no idea where they get either my name or phone number from.

My CV or details aren't on any recruitment websites, that is I don't make my information available to the general public. Will someone educate me as to where these guys are getting my info from?

Maybe a staff member left an agency and took the database of candidates with them to their new job with another agency. Yes, it happens

Yeah I actually got an email from them about that, though I only ever browsed that site, don't ever remember posting any info on it. Could that be it?.

Again quite possible, though is it alright to challenge the recruiter as to where they are getting my info?. Would they even answer that question?. Don't get me wrong, the fact that I get a good few calls about jobs is great should I ever need one in an emergency, but to go off on a mad one with me when a) I don't even know who she is and b) I didn't ask her to call me is a bit nuts.
