Change of ownership question?

I've recently purchased a '65 Beetle. It has the old style log book, which I know I need to send in with an RF 200 form to get the car in my name.

My question is, will I get the old style log book back, or will it be the new certificate of ownership? I'd prefer the log book as it's part of the cars history.

    Thanks.

My Micra has an old style log book too, and I got it back from the tax people when I bought the car from my uncle a few years ago.

You should get the log book back, both my datsun and chevette still have their original books, if you can go in in person at all to change the details would be the best thing maybe, to be sure you get it back.I think they only issue the new certs to imported cars and cars registered after 1993.

Do, just to be on the safe side, when i last went in to tax the datty, the guy in there didnt even stamp the book, i had to ask him to,its the only reason i go in person, to keep the tax book up to date, otherwise i would just do it online.
