what date/month are exam results released?

Depends what year you are. Presuming you are in first year, then early to mid July would be my guess.

My results go up on a noticeboard at 4pm on a Friday. Don't really want to go in to get them though-any ideas of the chances of them going up on the internet before the weekend?!

They will be up on the web at 4pm or thereabouts too and the breakdown posted out that day too. In BESS at least.

Define "results" please.

Do we get "First"/2.1/2.2 etc on the days mentioned, and then the % scores by subject that makes up that mark a few weeks later?

Well I can only speak for my course, but it seems reasonable to assume that it's the exact same everywhere...

The results posted stated both your final grade (I, II.1, Fail, etc.) for the whole year as well as a breakdown of marks in each course, 55% in 2BA2, 73% in 2BA1, etc.

It's not the same throughout college; a lot of courses just post the overall classification and then will have the exact mark and breakdown at some point (some departments post them out within a few days, others you have to go check, etc.). Also doesn't seem to be any standardisation with regard to final year results - some are anonymous (student no. only), some have names attached. Depends on what course it is.

Last year, CS emailed out a link to a page where you could enter your student number, and your overall grade for the year only was given. This almost definitely was only for the CS department, though. The individual grades were only accessable later on when the standard pdf's of exam results went up on the Exams Office website.
