I have recently moved over from the UK and obviously not happy with no free to air avaialable and the lack of normal TV chanels has prompted me into searching for a digital provider. I have spoke to ntl and sky and they're not far off the same price range for what i want (as many channels as possible inc sky sports) however i have heard in various conversations about this item called a dodgy box? i guess its just a once off payment to someone under the counter somewhere and you recieve a load of channels? am i right in thinking this? I'm not claiming to be interested in braking the law however i would like to know what my options are and if someone could explain then this would be brilliant?

    Regards

the uk free to air channels are available here on satellite, see www.satellite.ie or other similar sites for details

It is a serious offence to steal a service. Read stickies in Cable forum.

There are plenty of legally free channels on Satellite with legitmate one off purchase.

Please note you are NOT anonymous on the Internet and assisting people to steal a service is a crime.

Do go read the Cable Forum stickies.

Moving from UK is nothing to do with it. All the same free channels except Five/ Sky3. And if you have UK address a Sky once off FTV card will give those legitmately on a once off payment on a Sky Digibox (without a contract)

If you want sky sports you pay for it, period. Anything else is theft.

We are not taking about Copyright (that would be the issue if you streamed Sky Sports to the Internet or Broadcast it).

It might be worth putting a sticky thread about illegal cable boxes at the top of this forum, as for some reason this is where most of the questions on the subject are asked.

If we start making sticky threads for every forum rule, it'll get rather messy. It'd be just nicer if people would read rules before posting.

Judging by recent threads few are reading the stickies in any case.

Yes, this is indeed true. Maybe we'll just have to get heavy handed...

I don't think this thread is going anywhere now.

OP, if you wanna discuss FTA satellite, then take a quick search of these forums and indeed stickies, or post a new thread if you don't find the answer you seek.

    Thread closed.
