I don't think there is one I looked for one in the past (I do shotokan) and there was nothing in cork. The closest one as far as I know is either tipp or kilkenny (if memory serves)

I wish there was a Kyokushin club here in Kilkenny. We have Shotokan at the Friary Hall on Mondays and Thursdays IIRC [I mostly go here for Judo]

Kyokushin clubs are in Dublin,Limerick and Galway IIRC.

no kyokushin in cork for sure!

but what is it you are looking for that you want kyokushin to give you?

maybe there is another art in cork that can help you do that?

    No

Kyokusihn is a style of karate
Budo means the way of the martial arts. Here's a link and quote from the author's blog:

    http://www.kyokushinbudokai.org/

"Budo is, of course, a Japanese term. Translating Japanese into English (or any western language for that matter) is not always an easy task. Very often, the smallest of Japanese words carries a mountain of complex meaning. It is generally accepted that the term 'Budo' is most accurately (and literally) translated as, "the way of combat". However, during the 20th Century the term was 'adopted' and came to represent the martial arts in general. The term no longer describes only the physical and technical aspects of combat and has come to encompass physical discipline, an attitude of mind, a command of the spirit and the strongest of moral codes."

    Why kyokushinkai!

    Its lineage is from shotokan.

Maybe you could follow Matutatsu Oyama and learn that first.

For me personally it was my first MA style. I would like to get into it again.

Kyokushin is a mixture of Shotokan [like you stated] and Goju-Ryu. As well as implementing elements from Muay Thai and even Judo [Sosai Oyama is also a 4th Dan in Judo]

Thanks. There are a few Shotokan clubs here in Kilkenny. Judo as well. Ofcourse the Kickboxing club and some Kung-Fu ones as well. Up until recently we even had an Oyama Karate club [essentially Kyokushin but with different Katas] but that closed when the instructor returned to Poland.

I need to amend my previous post. The Instructor for the Oyama Karate club has been back in Kilkenny since last December. God only knows why she didn't try to resume training.
