Just as I was getting ready for bed I notice a spider had set up a web beside my camera bag (yes my camera bag is right beside my bed :o)

I take out my 30 euro macro lens and got a snap of him - what do you think?

    (With the 18-55 at 55mm - non-macro 1:3 if I recall)

    (With the 18-55 at 55mm with a 50mm f2 reverse coupled onto it - 1:1)

I'm not too fond of spiders myself and with the close working distance (5cm) I was praying that the spider wouldn't jump on me :D.

I find it's difficult to get all of the animal in focus - is that just a DOF limitation I have to live with or are there any special techniques I can use? (I was at f2 with the f2 lens and f16 with the 18-55).

Oh and lighting was provided courtesy of the SB-600.

That second one is great. Super close up insect/spider shots always look so skin-crawlingly creepy.

The first picture is just there to give people an idea of how small the spider was - about half the size of the palm of my hand. And yep it does look so strange doesn't it? (We look strange to them too I suppose! :D)
