how not to be good at either!

    lifted from Bluescouse's blog:

"managed to turn my £10,100 roll into £1500 today. lost £1500 in the day and then a further £7100 tonight. I played $25/$50 only and against good players."

that deserves a new smiley

Absolute lunacy, been a riveting read for a few years :) You have to give him credit tho for honesty, how many degenerate gamblers are ever that honest about things? It's usually everyones fault but their own

i think he is getting stale, at first it was like omfg wats goin on here, but then each successive blog post is pretty much the same thing.

broke, got loan, spun to 20k, paid off loan, lost 80% of my role, gonna stick to BR mgt, spin, broke, prolly gonna sell house, get loan, spin, repeat and rinse.

the tone of his posts has changed a lot too, at first he was kind of kid-with-a-new-toy excited. Now he's very matter of fact and comes across a bit despondent. He's definitely not having fun.

er, no - I'm just constantly amazed by this Ed Hollis guy. And not in a good way. I foresee some sort of very unhappy ending and think reading that blog can be a good wake-up call for us poker players sometimes. The Dark Side is never that far away!

(anyway, the only original content in that new blog entry wasn't written by me!)

"i'm still yet to sell the house but hoping for something soon. i have released some equity though and managed to pay off my debts and have £9k available for bankroll..."

I said it before; by 'releasing equity' to fund his bankroll, he's borrowing from the bank over 20/25/30 years to pay for his degeneracy...not only that but with the state of the housing market in both Britain and Ireland he is likely borrowing against a depreciating asset to do so. This is much worse than a trust fund baby throwing away his inheritance on poker (probably find a few of those on the tables I bet!), it's just so stupid. Anyone from boards ever play against Ed? I've love to meet the guy and hear his story first-hand.

There are kids snorting cocaine, getting plastered every day of the week and generally wasting their lives on almost every street these days. Why are we particularly concerned about this guy just because his preferred method is gambling all his monies and his friends and families monies on poker?

I've stopped reading it months ago as in my view he is an addict with no redeeming qualities as far as I can see and just because his drug of choice is gambling on poker it's not any more interesting to me then reading about any other addict.

do you not think it's a cautionary tale olly? I'm not saying he has any redeeming qualities himself but I think his story is useful

    I already have that down...

BRM: only play within your daily creditcard and bankcard withdrawal limits (obv. withdraw before you go into the casino and then again after midnight ;))

Game Selection: play whatever game ollyk or BCB can inveigle me into!

'where i was all in preflop for a $4300ish pot with k6o v 88.' and he is losing lots of money I can see why , who the hell is giving him money where did he get a house I heard he was young enough.

Well I guess you could be right there ElS but its not like i have to look outside any Dublin casino to see cautionary tales. In fact at this stage I've seen too many and in the flesh these things are much more powerful.

I guess for people who might get hooked on online poker he does serve some purpose but that's one habit I've luckily managed to avoid myself.

That blog is messed up. If I ever got like that I'm not sure I'd be posting it for the world to see!

It was entertaining at first, stopped reading it a long time ago but will be interested to see when it all comes to a tragic end.

i say fair play to him for being so honest and truthful, i mean its not like anyone is forced to read it, its his blog, if it helps even 1 person - including himself, i think its worthwhile

to have this ah f him attitude - hes only an addict is a selfish and self-centred comment imo

Yes but the blog doesn't help anyone, least of all himself. He has said before the blog has had an influence. The guy obviously loves the fact that he's something of a superstar of degenerate spinner ups. Most gambling addicts are incredibly narcissistic. I don't see any good coming from him being truthful about his losses.

What do people think of him, has he actually any talent? Most of the hands he mentions whether he wins or loses big are all ridiculous rubbish moves with air that no real poker player would do 99% of the time. Are his spin ups purely variance coupled with extreme aggression?

And funny you mention Dougee, I read his recent HH thread tonight for the first time, then read some hands on his old blog and decided that he was definitely a Bluescouse character (I read his old blog to see if he was leveling, because I didn't think anyone who played 25/50 would really play like that) :)

Well hotspur thanks for that, we have just talked Doughie down from the top of a building last week when he was ready to jump and now you come on here and drive him back on the roof.. You may think it's funny but somebody has got to clean up that mess when he jumps......may you sleep well at night you heartless..........
