a little rant for the BGRH brothers.

okay one of the things i find most annoying is the raising of drinks prices at different times through a night. What i propose is to post the names of the pubs that do this and the times it happens.

    its happened a few times...
was in my locaol last night quinns of drumcondra with mrs prendy and we had 3 rounds of beer and wine @€;10. whan i went up again it was €10.30 not much of a rise but dam annoying having to break €20 for 0.30 cents.

so at 11pm quinns increases prices:mad:

i hate when they do that, the vaults below connolly station is the exact same, they have enough of a mark up on them already, they dont need to raise them....hell if they lowered them they would get greater numbers coming in the doors who dont wanna get ripped off, would be able to buy more in bulk, making it cheaper per unit and therefor would have a higher profit margin even tho they lowered price.....its simple economics!

Do as the trend is going so, socialise more at home before you go out, and cut away the pubs profits.

We all know the reason pubs are down on profits is nothing to do with the smoking ban- I certainly can't afford to go on the jar the way I did 5 years ago anymore, and I am sure the same is true for most people.

Have beer prices really increased that much?

I remember, when I started drinking, around 2003 a pint was about €4-€4.50.

Now, they're about €4.50-€5. Not that much of an increase.

Off Licences seem to be cheaper. I remember 24 rolling rocks for €24 being an amazing deal.
Now, plenty of beers can be bought at those prices.

There is a massive world shortage malted barely and hops shortage due to weather/drought, increase in population, switching crops, barley to maize for feed and using maize/rice for bio-ethanol.

prendy did they advertise that there is a change in price after 11pm?

Ye think that's bad? Was in a pub on Jervis St a few weeks ago, mate ordered a round of one Miller, two Erdinger off a lounge girl. She came back and while he was paying her, happened to look at the receipt, and saw 2 different prices for the 2 (identical) Erdingers. She went off to find out why, and came back with the explanation that the price went up at 11.00.

So in the middle of keying in the round, between two presses of the same button, the price jumped by 40 cents. Never seen that one before.

my point isnt the price of drink, its more the way pubs increase prices at certain times.

not something they would advertise but im sure they have themselves covered with a small print sign somewhere along the bar.

The price has to be displayed clearly at the bar.

The displayed price is the price you pay.

Heres the price list for my local :D

The price goes up at 11 or 11:30, it's something to do with late bar licensing where they try to recoup the money they spent on it.

    carb.

In these pubs what is on the price list in the door?

I see no real problem if it is pointed out before you buy it. It is just like a restaurant charging less for a lunch or early bird menu.

And it ends up cheaper than paying into a club if you want just 1 or 2 late drinks.

"Happy hours" are illegal, and some of these practises might fall under that law. I think you can lower the price over the course of the day but not raise it.
