The super featherweight division has lost a lot of its top contenders recently. Some are moving up to the interesting and controversial lightweight division:
Manny Pacquiao, Juan Guzman &Juan Manuel Marquez.
Legends Barrera and Morales are also out of the picture now after having spent 3-4 years there.

This leaves a major void in the division. How will it look in the near future (within a year). Alex Arthur has been promoted to "full" WBO world champ after holding the interim belt and Guzman moving up in weight instead of defending. Frank Warren said he can see him as a long reigning world champ: does this mean he will face second tier contenders for ages? or face the top challengers and other champions and clean up?
Hot prospect Yuriorkis Gamboa is moving up the rankings rapidly, fighting guys with winning records and knocking guys out who are naturally bigger. So far he is 9-0.

    The current super featherweight champions:

    WBA: Edwin Valero
WBC: Vacant: Humberto Soto and Francisco Lorenzo fight for this in June
    IBF: Cassius Baloyi
    WBO: Alex Arthur

    10 Top contenders
(boxers who appear in The Ring magazines top 10 and/or the boxrec.com top 20 ):

    Jorge Barrios
    Yodsana Nanthachai
    Mzonke Fana
    Rocky Juarez
    Sergey Gulyakevich
    Kevin Mitchell
    Yusuke Kobori
    Manuel Medina
    Malcolm Klassen
    Roman Martinez

    What fights will be made?
    What fights should be made?
Who is capable of taking Pacmans position as the true #1 (within 1-2 years)

I think Valero is already the best of them.
I would LOVE to see a fight between him and Pacman !

I thought Gamboa was a feather ? He looks excellent, but I wonder what his stamina is like ?

While Arthur has improved since the Gomez war, I can't see him reigning long even if protected, he's just too stiff and one-dimensional.

Baloyoi could well lose in the next defence, he doesn't have too many more top class fights in him.
