Bought a Mac Book Pro over a year ago - today at start-up the Keyboard, trackpad all applications have frozen.

I have tried using the Bluetooth mouse, thats frozen too and I also see a line going thru the Bluetooth symbol.

I have tried plugging in a USB Mouse and Keyboard but it doesn't recogine it

I see the clock, Wireless network and new mail apps running

I have bootcamp installed and the Windows partition is running fine.

I did not install any new updates nor have I changed anything in the preferences.

Please help, I am out of the country on business next week and I have really important files on the Mac partition.

if the files are that important you coulld try this, install osx on a usb drive. then boot from it this clean install should allow the keyboard and mouse to work. then you should be able to explore the internel hard drive and find the files that your looking for and quickly mail them somewhere safe?

im not sure if you will be able to get this to work with your keyboard and mouse problems?

maybe even try to log in using remote desktop?

Other options for accessing the files are an Ubuntu Linux live CD or you could install MacDrive 7 in XP (the free trial works for 5 days).

Does the keyboard work for single user mode ( apple + S on power up )?

Thanks for all your replies, spent most of today surfing the net looking for a solution, safe mode not working, copper strip is in place and nothing loose, it seems to be a very common problem but most people had to send it back to Apple which I will do when I get back the week after next. At least the Windows OS works, but I hate it. As for the work files I have to start these again in Windows

I will post the solution when I get it back from Apple

    Thanks again

What happens if you boot from OS X boot CD ( force CD boot by pressing C key on power up )?

If the keyboard works for windows its not a hardware problem.
