ok- played 150 buy in ventian.\90 players and down to 8..
i knew a few of the players as they were same final table with me in the 550 buyin on saturday in same casino..
split 5 ways- so they knew i could play and respected my game\ we also had good banter at table
    ok here what happened

i was very short stacked and had about 21,000 left with blinds at 3,000\6,000 and 500ante.
in raised 19,500 leaving myself 1,500 behind..AQs...hand is irrevlant..im not sure why i decided to leave that little behind-
next----monster chip leader with 150,000 in big blind went all in- he was a complete pric k and anignorant cocky yank.
i started laughing and saying in joking expression as i threw my remaining chipsd into pot,"im going to fold with this much left"---immmediatly he siad my hand was dead as i said fold....
the table were mostly on my side as they knew i was joking. any way management called over and after while of argueing to and fro my hand was deemed dead.
i was so angry- because the yank was acting like child laughing and giggling and showed no respect whatsoever. he had 150,000 in chips and to win pot this way showed no class...\
please comment on this- i was pissed, more at hes attitude and demeaner than my hand being deemed dead..
tought poker players had class, respect and good will--
i got 420 for my troubles but hasd potential for more--

Personally id have bit the fools nose off or some other violent action.
Poker players do mostly have class but theres millions of poker players so your bound to run into knuts like that.
SEems like ahome town decision and pure angle shoot blatant cheating by said yank.
Perhaps the casino has some daft rule where a worded action eg call or fold
stands its abd form by that bollix but next time just go all in or say {CALL} easy eh?

If you put your chips in the pot and still had your cards, I cant imagine how any tournament director could rule your hand dead. If it was me, I would have told told the TD that what I said was "I'm hardly going to fold for this much". No way could he rule against you then.

    Very ul.

To be quite honest I don't have a huge amount of sympathy for you. This topic has been covered many times and your actions in my opinion seem very naive. The view that Americans are notorious for angle shooting has been expressed by many posters who have visited Vegas along with the widely held belief that they will do anything possible to aqquire your chips. I'm not condoning the actions of this classless yank for one second but ultimately you gave him the opportunity to have your chips taken on a technicality. If this area hadnt been covered so comprehensively as it has been over the last 6 months my attitude would probably be different. Smell the coffee dude.

From my experience of tournaments in Vegas and certain EPTs american TDs tend to completely cave and side with whoever does the most bitching and moaning, regardless of however ludicrous the ruling might be.

Killing your hand there is just a ****ed up ruling.

    Did common sense ever rule?

    He's a prick,

    however,

He was right. You were wrong.

    Lesson learnt.

wtf, at what point was the prick right? Your hand isn't even close to dead imo. I would never raise off like 99% of my chips like that though but thats neither here nor there. That guy is one hell of an asshole, the td is obv just an idiot.

If part of the rules is that verbal declarations stand then mentioning the word fold at any point is taking a chance.

So if you say: "I'm NOT folding", thats a fold then right? I mean you verbally declared that you were NOT folding, but you also mentioned the word fold. So what is it? Do you see how this makes no sense now?
