    Hi all,

Im going to prague soon for a few days. Someone recommended i book a taxi from the airport to the hotel & back again before i get there to avoid getting ripped off. Has anyone used one of these services? Ive found a couple on google but not sure which is best, would be great if someone could recommend one to me :)

Also, could anyone tell me if an aib atm/laser card will work over there? meant to ask in the bank when i was ordering my money but forgot!

& if you have anything you recommend doing while there let me know! :)

Hey, prague is great, i've been a few times..

You can get the bus which will bring you to the city centre or you can use cedaz taxi service, it's quite reasonable actually (think about 15euro each way - they have a website as far as i remember) and they can arrange to pick you up from your hotel... Sometimes you are asked to share them but it's cool...

    Things to do;

    1. Get lost, it's very easy to do and happens to everyone!
    2. Use a guidebook - they're all good, go see the main sites in there.
    3. Go into to the garrisson on charles bridge (Karlov Most) - it's around 5 quid but you get a great view
    4. Bring your walking shoes, there's plenty to cover!

As above with the taxies, you can use your ATM card if it has the cirrus stamp on it, if not the bank can issue a new one, DO NOT use any of the moneyy changers they are a rip off, there is plenty to see just wandering around, shop around in terms of prices it's easy to find cheap as well as expensive bars/restraunts. That biggest Irish bar in Prague place (don't worry you'll see a sign for it) certainly charges Irish prices. Enjoy yourself

Thanks, have ordered money, but just want the security of knowing my atm card will work :) think it has that on it. Dont think we'll be bothered with irish bars really, sure whats the point in travelling all the way to prague to meet drunken irish people, could do that anytime :p

I'll also recommend using the Cedaz.

It's just a fixed rate of 20 euro and they take you right to the door of your hotel.

And your hotel should be able to arrange a pick up to bring you back to the airport.

As for accommodation, I tend to splash out a bit and stay in a nice hotel, you can get some very nice ones reasonably priced in Prague.

But if you want to do things on the cheap I have in the past used the Pensions which work out at very good value.

Presuming that this is the company youre talking about? You dont book it, just turn up?

We have rented twice from this crowd and were very happy - www.apartments-in-prague.org . I'd recommend staying in the Mala Strana (Little Town) area - it's away from the stag party hell of the Old Town but within walking distance of everywhere.

www.pragueapartment.cz have some very nice, well located apartments - just make sure your booking is 100% confirmed! They'll also give you 10% off if you ask nicely - tell them you got a recommendation from a previous customer.

www.marys.cz have quite a few of their own apartments, and act as agents for many others. They're in business a long time and are reputable - very swish office as well. Their driver tends to be late collecting you at the airport though....

Yep. They have a counter that you can't miss as soon as you walk out of arrivals. Tell them what hotel you are going to and they'll give you a little card to take out to the drivers and they'll put you in one of the mini busses and then you pay on arrival at the hotel. They'll take either Euro or Czech Crowns.

20 is pretty reasonable as it is a long enough old stretch into the city centre from the airport.

I stayed in the savic hotel on my last journey - possibly the nicest hotel i've ever stayed in!!! Expensive but often have specials on for midweek bookings...

To avoid the rather nasty issue I had , withdraw Czech money and pay for your hotel in cash , otherwise they may work the currency conversion in their favour and you end up getting stung for an extra 20% .... this is fairly common in Prague so be warned.

Other than that particular issue , we had a very nice time , its a beautiful city.

is that 20 per person or per car?

I think 20 will cover up to a group of 4 people actually.

I've only ever used it on my own, so I'm not entirely sure.

as others said, if you share the thing it'll cost you e4 or e5. they're very nice to deal with. If you book from a hotel prepare to pay way too much in my experience.
