Can A Sky+ Box With Card Be Used In A FTA Capacity??

Or do Sky need to be involved and do I need a phone line??? If I use British boxes and British cards, can I get Sky3 and Channel 5 too?? I am assuming the recording and pausing aspect goes out the window once the box is not used in conjuntion with an official SKY account, right?

    Cheers, as ever.

    ****s sake.......:pac:

    Cheers anyways.....

Just while we are at it....suppose the box is purchased in the UK and has its complemeting card could I ring Sky in the fullness of time and get them to work their magic and have myself a fully functioning SKY+ box with none of the expense of buying and installing via SKY.

In other words...when I quote the card number will they sh!t themselves and ask WTF the English box is doing in Ireland...or will it all go smoothly...:p
    Anyways....thanks again.

I see, but you will forgive me for wondering as it was not clear in your post. To answer another question its unlikely sky will have any problem setting you up with a card on a second hand box as its a revenue stream for them.

I do too. I think I might just have taken SKY out of the picture, thanks to the advice I get here. It seems to me the smart way to go is to just get the best FTA deal you can, and sit back and wait for the other channels to jump ship from SKY. I really only want Setanta and the best of the Free View stuff, but I am a bit peeved that I can't pull in 5 and Sky 3 with the SKY stuff that I have. Anyhoo.........win some lose some {more}. Cheers.

If you know the full name, address, postcode and maybe phonenumber of the person that card was sent to, then do NOT ring Sky saying you've the card in Ireland!

If you want, you can take up an Irish subscription, for which they'll send you a new viewing card (just don't mention the UK one!)
