Patching up walls/ceilings w plaster: DIY or GSI?

    Hi,

Am a complete novice to DIY but budget is tiny so now might be the time to start!

I need to fix a chunk of plaster that came off a wall and patch holes and gaps in ceilings and walls left by electricians and plumbers.

How hard would it be to tackle by myself?

If you think it would be too difficult, how much would it cost to get someone in to do it? In my non-expert opinion I guess there might be a day's work in it. Would I need a plasterer or could a handyman do patching like this?

    I'd really appreciate any feedback.

    G
