Monty sitting nicely... got a few quid on him this week. I'm down near there at the weekend so might pop in to see him lift the trophy on Sunday afternoon!:D

Leaving kk around 6 am tomorrow to follow Gary Murphy around for the morning... was down there on friday-sunday last year and had a great night on the saturday, Adare is a fine place and the town was buzzing. Would love to do it again but can't spare the time this year.
We got accommodation right across the road in the Dunraven Arms easily for the saturday night...

Why, is he gonna help Clarkey lift it into the boot of his car or somethin?

Clarke is now best of the Irish on -3, halfway through the second round. McGinley finished -2 but should've been much better.

Lead is currently -6, and is unlikely to be much lower by the end of the day I'd imagine. Harrington has just started and will probably have the tougher conditions in the afternoon. Any round par or better will keep him right there though.

Should make for good watching over the weekend. So many players in with a chance to win with the lead at -6 and plenty of Irish interest also. Hope the weather stays decent enough as the course definitely seems able to handle itself as mentioned. Good practise for US Open...not that there's that many of this field going.. :o;)

I was watching this yesterday and was wondering if anyone knows what the device Harrington had on his Left arm was?

In an interview afterwards he said that he has got tennis elbow and is just wearing that strap as a precaution.

Chance of a home winner would seem unlikely now after 3 rounds. Clarke got himself right in contention at -6 after 17 holes. But he really lost the plot going down the last, going out of bounds and ending up with a disastrous triple-bogey 8. Both he and Harrington will need brilliant rounds tomorrow if they're to have any chance.

Gary Murphy birdies 3 in a row to move to -7 after 4 holes. Great start.

Another birdie on the 6th puts him on -8 and joint leader.

    Gowan Gary!

Murphy's gonna be tied for the lead in a minute when he taps in that deuce putt on the par-three.

If the first hole is anything to go by, Dredge and Finch may struggle - they're facing a long wait at the second now as well with Westwood having to go back and reload.

Here's hoping Murphy can add to the great run we're having this season.

Also - if McIlroy could make a putt he'd be right in the mix.

Well done to Finch as he holed some very important putts. That was some shot he pulled off on the last and if it had gone wrong then it would have been very embarrassing.

Darren had a bad run of about 6 holes (including the 18th on the third day) - at least he's getting back to some of his old form.

Well done to Murphy and to McIllroy. Both played very well.

Just like to say well done to Gary Murphy, 69th on the OOM now & hopefully this will spur him on to better results for the rest of the season.
Also well done to Rory McIlroy...some talent!

    Well Done Gary Murphy!

Best of the Irish and a well deserved Top 10 finish.

    Nice guy too.

Was down on friday to see Murphy tee off at 7:30, no galleries to deal with at that hour, just 2 of his friends and Schwartzel's girlfriend (mmmm).
Both Schwartzel and Hoey had doubles on their back 9 which took the wind out of their sails and made it difficult to make the cut. Would have loved to see Hoey make the cut, would have been a much better pay-day relatively to the challenge tour.
Murphy played very solid stuff, going out in 33, 2 bogeys came from missing the fairway off the tee.
Managed to get down again for Saturday to follow him again.... again out in 33, 1 bogey and 2 more birdies on the back 9 for a 68, jumped from 30th to 9th.
Had to travel again Sunday.... was a nice gallery to start with but it was crazy how it grew when he started making a move!
Put it close on 1 but a difficult putt, then birdie on 2, 3 & 4, solid on 5 and put a 3 iron to 2 feet on 6 to take a share of the lead :)
I though he was a little unlucky on 7 and made par and then made a 3 putt bogey on 8 from not too far away and that seemed to slow him down...
He showed a hell of a lot of bottle though to grind out a great finish from a few difficult positions, capping it off with a sweet birdie on 18 for t3, his best finish so far.

Probably 40k more needed to secure his card - making the cut this week could go a long way to doing that with a massive prize fund on offer in wentworth.
Then on to Wales where he was 6th last year (same venue, though course is different this year)... he shot a 3 under 66 on sunday last year but played much better than that tee-to-green, just a cold putter between him and the win ;)

Have to say that adare is a fantastic location for the Irish Open, fantastic course, a great weekend :D

Really enjoyed watching Murphy on Sunday. Bumped into him once or twice when he was playing out of Red Lane Driving Range in Newbridge (not that long ago that, hard to believe - he represents Heritage now, right?) and although I never said more than "Howya" to him, he always seemed like a top bloke.

Mate in work has met him a few times and said he's as nice a guy as you could wish to meet.

Getting back to Sunday, I actually thought it was the par on the par-five that kind of killed his momentum - the way he'd started, sitting in the middle of the fairway, he had probably mentally given himself a 4 already - I know I had!

Not representing the Heritage anymore - mainly sponsored by Taylor Made and Oceanico Developments (in Portugal?) as far as I know...

On sunday, when taking on the water on 7, my heart was in my mouth... I think he makes a few too many 6's on par fives (made two on thursday)... still he gave himself a good chance of a 4 and then the bogey on 8 was unexpected and followed it up wit a poor approach to 9, though he got a fantastic save there. Those 3 holes kinda swung the momentum away from him.
He was very close on 11, leaving it on the lip, kinda strange again on the par 5 12th, bogeyed the difficult 13th... miss-hit on 14 but saved again, hit the tree on 15 and great save...
Went straight over the flag on 16 and was unlucky to finish off the green (in a bad lie) while only 10 ft away - turned a real birdie chance into a par, then a great finish.

He is a great bloke, universally liked I'd say. Played with him on my home course last year... 3 putted the first green (which was very wet as we were in front of the mowers at that early stage of the morning).... 7 birdies later, a 65

Had to come away early and just typical that i miss Finch goin for his dive into the river on 18....saw some of Murphys round, good finish by him.....Clarkes iron play was a bit askew, he let out a roar of frustration on the 14th when he pulled one way left of the pin.....hes a confidence player as they say, and it just wasnt happening for him on sunday, hope he makes Ryder Cup team

btw the price of a burger and chips in adare was shocking!
