    Hi,

I got 2x1GB sticks of ECC RAM for the above. It has 2x512MB at the moment. I moved the 512s to the empty slots, and put the new ones where they were.

Was this correct, or should I have left the smaller ones where they were?

Usually, the case with Dell servers is that if you put the RAM in the wrong slots, the system will "complain" during POST.
If you just got one message on the first boot after the upgrade, saying that the amount of RAM has changed, then you are good to go.

    Thanks for that.

I just wanted to be sure that I was getting optimum memory performance.
