Whether to extend or move

I am currently living in a three bed terraced house and with a growing family am facing the issue of whether to move or extend. I am keen to stay put and extend downstairs but by doing so I will be left with very little garden- approximately 20 foot long by 10 foot wide. I am wondering if anyone else has extended in similar circumstances and if so what advice they would have. The way I see it we only really get the weather in Ireland to use the garden for three months of the year. I would get more use and value out of the indoor space. However my concern is that I will spend money on a great extension but the kids will really miss out by only a very small outdoor space. Any advice would be much appreciated.

It's really up to yourself and what you feel happiest doing. I think you might have answered your own question here...

I appreciate your concerns for the kids but they have a great capacity for making the best of whatever outdoor space they have available to them.
