Sky box and LCD TV

I have connected my pace sky box to my LCD TV using the scart output. The skybox is about 4 years old. The picture looks better on my old tube tv than the new 37" HD. Is there a way of improving the quality? Is there a digital output on the back of standard boxes that I could use? I can only see 2 scart.

    In short: no.

Your TV is HD, but your Sky box is not. Even if it was you'd have to have a HD sub and a HD box. And even then there are only a handful of HD channels.

In summary: you're only getting HD if you're using HDMI or Component connections. SCART and all the rest are old hat.

Firstly, in picture settings, ensure that the screen output is 16:9, and that Scart is set to RGB, and not PAL.

Other than that, you'd need to go through the picture settings in the TV itself and adjust as neccessary, as seldom are LCD's factory settings correct.

Depending on the quality of the HDTV you have, the better, more acceptable the SDTV Sky output will be.

IMO, the cheaper the TV the worse the scaling and picture quality for SDTV and Plasma is much better at displaying plain ole Sky than LCD.

In short, you get on your screen what you play for!
