What about Eileen O'Keeffe? She was sixth in Osaka.

I think that derval o rourke still has a shout!! I know she didnt have a great year last year but people seem to be forgetting that it was only two years ago when she was world indoor champ and second in europe!!!

She'll definitely, no question, have to take at least a hundreth of a second from her 12.72 PB to make the final, not to mention win a medal. The Gold will more than likely require a low 12.4 time, with the Silver and Bronze not too far behind that. It'll be interesting to see what 3 Americans make it through the trials. It could be any three out of Michelle Perry, Virginia Powell, Damu Cherry (does she have an olympic ban?), Nichole Denby, Joanna Hayes, the list goes on!

Then you've to add the Jamacians (Ennis-London, Foster-Hylton, Dixon, Golding Clark), the Canadians (Lopes, Whyte and Felicien) and Susanna Kallur into the equation.

There's then a bunch of athletes who are there-and-there abouts Derval's level: Sally McLellan (much faster on the flat, but just a hundreth of a second over the barriers, but will more than likely smash into the 12.6 region if she stays clear of injury), Josephinie Onyia (slightly faster than Derval), Bolm, Tejeda and Yanit.

Contrary to what you may believe, I'm not trying to doomsay her chances, I'm just highlighting how tough this event in particular has become. But I don't think I could point out any other Sportsperson with a more determined and professional approach to their event than Derval, and she caught everyone on the hop with her 2006 success; let's hope her success comes every two years!:D
