Train: Krakow to Vienna

Hi, hoping someone can help me!

Had planned on spending a few nights in both Krakow and Vienna, before moving onto Budapest for 4 nights. Didn't realise the time journey of the train between Krakow and Vienna - which I think is an overnight train. I have searched for a site in English where I can check but have failed! www.oebb.at seems to be the correct site, but it leaves English once you get to the ticket stage!

Has anyone made this journey before?! Is this the only option?!

    Any help appreciated!!

oebb.at is the correct site - I have boked Austrian tickets there before. I seem to remember it switching to German towards the end of the process, but a combination of babelfish and general understanding of the process got me through.

You could also try www.db.de for times and other details - but since this is German railways you won't be able to book the tickets.

I presume Polish railways could sell you the ticket also.

You don't *need* to do it as an overnight - it's only 6 or 7 hours.

You could also try http://www.theinternationaltrainline.co.uk but I have a feeling they will only take bookings with UK credit cards for some odd reason.

There's other trains too. 7am for example getting in at 13:28 but I didn't bother with half realistic dates.

A brilliant site for planning any of those type of trips is:

    http://www.seat61.com

I did that trip a few years ago. It was fine. The train was nearly empty so got 3 seats to stretch out on. We had to change trains somewhere in the middle of Poland about 3am which was a bit surreal. There were guards with guns around and it was all a bit creepy. they checked under carriages and generally tried to push people about.

As it's me and my Mum travelling we decided that a change of flights to Vienna was best option this time around. If it was just me I wouln't give a hoot about a train etc. but it's not really my Mum's idea of a holiday and that's fair enough! Doing Vienna now for 4 days and Budapest for 5. :D

Thank you all for your help!!
